UAE started their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022 qualifiers Round 1 fixture against Netherlands and it hasn’t been the best of starts for the gulf nation. Deciding to bat first after winning the toss, UAE could manage just 111 for 8 in their 20 overs and despite a brilliant effort from the bowlers, they lost it by three wickets. During the first innings in Geelong, a rare instance of Aayan Afzal Khan stumbling to the ground took place.
Aayan Afzal Khan was dismissed for just five runs and UAE were reeling at 110 for 8 at the fall of his wicket. The 16-year-old wasn’t happy with himself after the dismissal and looked in a spot of bother while returning to the pavilion. Attempting to walk past the boundary line, Aayan stepped on it and fell down close to the crowd.
The youngster immediately got up and returned back with not much confession or anger. While the crowd nearby saw the funny side, it wasn’t the same case with Aayan Afzal who looked embarrassed.

Yastika Bhatia fell recently while coming out from the dugout
This is not the first time an instance like this had happened, and the fans on Twitter recalled a similar instance when Yastika Bhatia fell on the ground while starting from the dugout in a Women’s international game. Bhatia was strangled with the advertisement boards at that time and her teammates were in splits after watching the incident.
Coming back to Aayan Afzal Khan, he is quite new to international cricket and this will be a big learning curve for him in a big tournament like the T20 World Cup 2022. He will be hoping to turn back the world on him with an impressive performance in the tournament and he has made the inroads for it by claiming the wicket of Netherlands Colin Ackerman already in the game.
