One of the greatest ever Tennis stars, Roger Federer had announced his retirement recently from all competitive tournaments and Virat Kohli has addressed the emotional moment in a video which was shared by ATP. The former Indian captain has met Federer twice in 2015 and 2018 and has always revealed about cherishing those memories.

Federer for one last time, paired up with his long-time rival Rafael Nadal in a double's match in the Lavers Cup 2022 and sadly, he ended up on the losing side against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. However, the whole crowd was quite emotional on the day for the number of achievements that Federer made during his career and the memories that he gave his fans .

I've never seen the kind of unity for any other individual athlete ever: Virat Kohli

In the video, Kohli was quite honoured to address the phenomenal career of Federer and recalled his first meeting with the legend personally. He went on to note that he has never seen such support from around the world for an individual athlete and felt it can just not be created manually. He spoke about the Aura that Federer tends to bring in and finally, wished him the best for endeavours in future.

"Hello Roger, it's a great honour for me to be able to send this video across for you congratulating you on a phenomenal career that has given us so many beautiful moments and memories," Kohli told in a video shared by ATP.

"I personally had the chance to meet you in Australian Open in 2018, something that I'll never ever forget in my life. One thing that stood out for me even watching you play, was the fact that so many people around the world, not just in the world of tennis got behind you, supporting you and that kind of unity I've never seen for any other individual athlete ever. That is something that cannot be created, that cannot be generated in anyway.”

"You had that special ability always. It was very evident when we watched you play and the aura you brought on court is unmatchable. And for me, you're always going to be the greatest of all time. I'm sure in the next phase of your life you're going to have as much fun and as much enjoyment as you did on the court. I wish you all the best and your family as well. Take care," he added.
