[WATCH] ENG vs IND 2025: Ravindra Jadeja's cheeky fist pump in umpire's face after successful ball change request
The amusing episode took place at the end of the 27th over of the fourth innings of the first Test.
Ravindra Jadeja was involved in an amusing moment with on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney when he pumped his fists in front of the official after a successful ball-change. The hilarious episode took place at the end of the 27th over of the fourth innings of the first Test. Gaffaney, in turn, smiled and patted the all-rounder's back.
Notably, India had been asking for a change in the ball in use for quite some time. However, their attempts to do so did not pay fruit. It was after the above-mentioned over that the ball was tested through the hoops and it did not pass the test, as a replacement ball was picked by the umpires.

This was not the first time in this Test that the visitors had sought the umpires to replace the ball. On Day 3, Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant had made a similar request, which was denied by the umpire. A frustrated Pant threw the ball in frustration and was reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Meanwhile, from 21/0 in six overs at the start of play on Day 5, England went into Lunch at 117 for no loss in 30 overs. Ben Duckett (64* off 89) brought up his 15th Test half-century and he was well assisted by Zak Crawley (42* off 93). The opening pair will be aiming on shrinking the deficit at a decent run rate for their side to have the best possible shot at clinching a win.

The new-ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah (0/21 in nine overs) and Mohammed Siraj (0/23 in eight overs) bowled at an economy rate under three. However, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur conceded more runs than India's liking.
