[WATCH] Rishabh Pant hits massive six while battling a hand injury, breaks solar panel on stadium roof

Rishabh Pant in full flow is one of the most destructive batters in the red-ball format. Pant, who retired hurt on Day 1 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and India at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, returned to bat on the morning of the second day and looked unfazed as he launched a massive six over long leg, which landed on the roof of the stadium.

Coming out to bat after the dismissal of debutant Saransh Jain, Pant was immediately greeted by a short-ball barrage from Lahiru Kumara. Kumara was also coincidentally the bowler who hit Pant on his forearm on Day 1, causing him to retire hurt. Pant launched his massive six on the fifth ball of the 90th over, when he got under a short delivery directed at his body, hooking it over long leg. The ball landed on the roof of the stadium, breaking one of the solar panels attached to the top of the roof.

India will be looking to build on the platform that they set on Day 1, finishing on 300 for 5 in 85 overs. Devdutt Padikkal notched up his second century of this series, scoring a brilliant 117. Captain Shubman Gill's half-century, Yashasvi Jaiswal's 45 and Ravindra Jadeja's 43 were the other notable scores of the innings. Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers on Day 1 with figures of 3 for 46, and added one more scalp to his figures with the wicket of the debutant, Saransh, early on Day 2.
