Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to don the famous Mumbai Indians shirt in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). And against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the 38-year-old reached a major batting milestone.

The former India captain struck a massive six over off the bowling of Jacob Duffy in the third over, sailing over the deep square leg boundary. In hitting that mammoth shot, Rohit surpassed 6,000 for MI in the IPL.

The crowd was left mesmerised by his effortless six, who started chanting Rohit’s name in full voice.

Unfortunately for the right-handed batter, he was not able to contribute much afterwards. Following discomfort with the hamstring, the batter needed immediate attention from the physio, only for him to be retired hurt and leave the field in agony.

Despite his cut-short contribution, the right-hander’s six would remain one of the key highlights of the day.

Rohit is not only one of MI’s best batters, but is without doubt their greatest ever captain. Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Mumbai-based franchise has won five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles. He recently completed 15 years with the franchise, which he first joined back in 2011.
