Watch: Suryakumar Yadav visits Yankee Stadium, gets presented with special New York Yankees jersey

India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav paid a visit to the historic Yankee Stadium in the Bronx in New York City on Saturday, August 10, where he was presented a Yankees pinstripe jersey, with his name and the number he dons on his t-shirt - No. 63.

The flamboyant batter was mesmerised upon entering the iconic venue. Suryakumar was honored by Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. He took a look around the stadium during his visit, which further highlights his growing popularity on the international arena and the cross-sport comradery between cricket and baseball.

Indian cricket fans will have fond memories of New York as the Men in Blue played three games at the city's Nassau County International Cricket Stadium during their triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Apart from wins against Ireland and the USA, Rohit Sharma and Co. got the better of arch-rivals Pakistan at the temporary cricket stadium.

Suryakumar Yadav aspires to play all three formats for India

Surykumar recently expressed his desire to play for India in all three formats of the game. His credentials in T20Is are unquestionable as he is No. 2 in the rankings for batters in the format. However, he couldn't do justice to his potential in ODI cricket and has only one Test match experience under his belt.

“I want to play for India in all three formats. Playing in Buchi Babu will give me good practice for the red-ball tournaments this season," Suryakumar told Times of India.

In 71 T20Is, the 33-year-old has amassed 2,432 runs at an average of 42.67 and a strike rate of 168.65. Meanwhile, in 37 ODIs, Suryakumar has managed just 773 runs at an average of 25.77 and a strike rate of 105.03.

The Mumbai batter was appointed as India's T20 captain after Rohit retired from the format following the T20 World Cup in June. Suryakumar had a great start in his new role as India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in a three-match T20I series last month.
