'You will truly make a difference in the daily lives of people' - Irfan Pathan confident about Yusuf's political success

In a recent turn of events, former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan is gearing up for a new innings, but this time in the political field. The charismatic all-rounder is set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Berhampore, as revealed by party supremo Mamata Banerjee during the announcement of candidates for all 42 seats in West Bengal.

The Berhampore constituency, currently held by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has been a stronghold for the Grand Old Party. While Chowdhury is yet to officially declare his candidacy, it is widely anticipated that he will seek re-election from the seat he has represented five times in the Lok Sabha.

Reacting to the news of Yusuf's entry into politics, his brother Irfan Pathan took to social media and posted a heartfelt message, saying, “Your patience, kindness, and service to the needy, even without an official position, can be easily noticed. I am confident that once you step into a political role, you will truly make a difference in the daily lives of people.”

All India Trinamool Congress, known for its strategic moves, dropped eight sitting MPs from the candidate list, introducing fresh faces like Yusuf Pathan and Mahua Moitra. The party, aiming for inclusivity, has renominated 16 sitting MPs and fielded 12 women candidates.

The party kickstarted its Lok Sabha Elections 2024 campaign with a vibrant rally at the Brigade Parade Grounds. Mamata Banerjee, addressing the crowd, emphasized the longstanding issue of the alleged withholding of the state's financial dues by the central government. This issue has been at the forefront of state politics for over two years and remains a key point for the party.
