India took on Zimbabwe in the first T20I at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 6. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. After Innocent Kaia was dismissed, Brian Bennett and Wessly Madhevere started building the partnership until Ravi Bishnoi struck in his first over. Bowling the sixth over of the innings, Bishnoi bowled a googly to Bennett as the batter failed to read and exposed his off stump.
The umpire sent the decision upstairs as the ball clipped the off-stump and the bail was dismantled. The third umpire checked whether wicket-keeper, Dhruv Jurel had not clipped the bail with the gloves. The replays showed no malfunction from the Jurel’s side, but while sending the signal to the big screen as out, the first visual displayed not out, before appearing as out.
Here’s the viral moment of the confusion:

You always have some expectations from yourself: Gill
Shubman Gill lead the Indian team for the first as they took on Zimbabwe in the first T20I. The occasion was a special one for the IPL sensations, Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma as they made their international debut. Dhruv Jurel, who made his Test debut against England in Ranchi also made his T20I debut with this game. Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy who also dazzled in IPL 2024, are yet to make their debut.
“We will field first. I think it looks like a good surface. It won't change much later. It has been long coming. We won an ICC event after 11 years. You always have some expectations from yourself. We have three debutants. Sharma, Jurel and Parag make their debuts,” said Gill at the toss.
