Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was recently in news for the reason he would have not wanted. As much as he is known for his cricketing exploits, he is also known for the way he behaved himself throughout his illustrious career. The former India cricketer rarely found himself in any short of controversy but he did land in one recently.

It all happened after he took to Twitter to praise the talented contestants of reality television show Indian Idol. Little did he know that his tweet would garner attention for all the wrong reasons. Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra called out Tendulkar for his tweet and reminded him of how one of the judges of the show Anu Malik was accused by many of derogatory behavior by many women during the #MeToo movement last year.

Sona Mohapatra clarifies the tweet

Sona Mohapatra was facing criticism by many because of her tweet for Sachin Tendulkar as the fans made it clear that the cricketer was only praising the contestants. With the criticism getting out of hand, Mohapatra recently took to Twitter to clarify that she was not attacking Tendulkar but was only exposing Sony TV. The television channel had sacked Malik last year after the allegations became public before re-hiring him this year.

Mohapatra, on Friday, posted multiple tweets clarifying her stance. Responding to headlines that suggested she had called out Tendulkar, she said that the cricketer’s Twitter handle was only used for commercial purposes by the TV channel.

“Not True. A national hero’s twitter handle being used as a commercial marketing machinery by @SonyTV to divert the public’s attention from the fact that they reinstated a serial sexual offender as judge on Indian Idol upset me. Nothing else. #clickbait #pr #tactics I SEE YOU,” she wrote.

In another tweet, she wrote that Tendulkar might not even have been aware of the PR & Digital marketing tweet that his team would’ve put up. She also accused Sony TV of making a scene out of her tweet for Tendulkar to garner publicity, writing:

“I don’t think that our cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar was even aware of the PR & Digital marketing tweet that his team would’ve put up. Of course Sony TV is now spreading this headline to get people to troll me for questioning a Bharat Ratna & garner publicity for their show,” she tweeted.
