Harmanpreet Kaur drew praises from cricketing legends all around the world following her trailblazing knock against the Australians in the semi final of the ongoing Women’s World Cup. The latest to flatter the batsman was legendary Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. The left handed genius was highly impressed with Harmanpreet Kaur’s sparkling century.

What Ganguly had to say:

Sourav Ganguly said that he followed Harmanpreet Kaur’s inning against the Aussies at the Derby ground and she was nothing less than outstanding. Ganguly, who is a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the BCCI, claimed that the Indians will reign supreme against England in the final.

“I saw her innings,”, “Kaur was superb yesterday. They will beat England in the final on Sunday.” Ganguly was quoted as saying by the PTI.

Before the start of the mega ICC event, Harmanpreet Kaur caught the headlines. The reason behind the same was that Kaur was the only Indian batsman to have played in a foreign league and gave the cricketing world a hint of her excellence with the bat.

Harmanpreet Kaur went berserk against the Aussie bowling attack in the semi final. In an inning of her life, Kaur scored 171 runs off just 115 deliveries which rode India to a mammoth total of 281 runs in a rain interrupted 42 over match. After crossing her hundred, Harmanpreet decided to begin the onslaught dispatching every ball that was thrown at her to the boundary. Captain Mithali Raj provided her support from the other end and Kaur played an inning which is sure to be remembered for long.

The Australians gave a tough fight but fell short of their target by 36 runs. Alex Blackwell registered 90 runs on the board as the Aussies were bundled out for 245 runs. In a wonderful gesture of sportsmanship, Blackwell presented his jersey to the star of the show Harmanpreet Kaur after the semi-final.
