In what comes as good news, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly continues to be in a stable condition. While he was admitted to the Woodlands hospital in Kolkata on Monday, as he tested positive for COVID-19, his family had gone to say that his health parameters were fine, and there wasn’t anything to worry about.
Although he is double-vaccinated, his RT-PCR test returned positive. His brother, Snehasish Ganguly, had also tested positive earlier this year. Woodlands hospital released a statement pertaining to the current status of the former Indian captain’s health. The statement said that he was doing well.
“On the second day of admission, Sourav Ganguly, BCCI president and former India captain, is haemodynamically stable, afebrile and maintaining oxygen saturation of 99 per cent on room air. He slept well last night and has had breakfast and lunch,” read the official statement from the hospital. It further included the names of the doctors who were looking after him.
“The medical board comprising Dr Saroj Mondal, Dr Saptarshi Basu and Dr Soutik Panda is keeping a close watch on his health status,” it further added. Thus, it is only a matter of time until the Bengal Tiger recovers, and gets back to performing his duties for the BCCI.
Sourav Ganguly was admitted to the hospital earlier this year as well
However, this isn’t the first time that the former Indian cricketer has been hospitalized this year. Due to some cardiac issues, he was admitted to the hospital earlier in January twice, and that too in quick succession after complaining of “chest discomfort“.
The 49-year-old then underwent an emergency angioplasty too. Yet, 20 days later, the legendary cricketer complained of similar chest pain, which lead to his second round of angioplasty on January 28.
In the meanwhile, according to a report by The Hindu, West Bengal is recording more than 400 positive cases every day. Kolkata reported 204 new cases in the last 24 hours as well. As a matter of fact, the state has also recorded about six cases of the Omicron variant.
