After nearly four years of resistance, India finally played their first-ever day-night Test last week. The world number one side hosted Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens for the historic game. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly played an important role in convincing Virat Kohli & Co. to try out playing with the pink ball.

Well, India did make a rousing start to their journey in day-night Test as they dismantled the visitors. The Virat Kohli-led side were on top right from the start despite losing the toss. India’s pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav breathed fire as the home side bowled out the visitors for just 106.

With the bat, India declared their innings on a promising 347 for 9. Skipper Kohli led from the front, scoring a classy century while Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane scored fifties too. Bangladesh, in reply, failed to do well once again as they failed to overturn the deficit and lost the game by an innings after being all out for 195.

India will tour New Zealand in February next year

With India finally making their much-anticipated debut in pink-ball Test, all eyes are now on their decision of playing Tests under the light outside the country. In the past, India have already turned down Australia’s proposal to play day-night Tests. And the team is likely to get the same proposal again next year as it would tour the likes of New Zealand and Australia.

India will tour New Zealand in February next year but Sourav Ganguly has confirmed nothing has been decided yet. Sourav Ganguly was also asked to compare the pace attacks of India and New Zealand after both team’s convincing win over Bangladesh and England respectively. He, however, declined to do so and is hopeful of a good show from India.

“Nothing is decided yet. We still have time for the New Zealand series. Let’s see,” the former India skipper was quoted as saying by Times Now.

“I will not compare this bowling attack with the ones in the past, but this is a very good attack. New Zealand are a good team. At home, in their own conditions, it will be challenging but I am hopeful Virat and the boys will do well there as well,” he added.
