Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly is one of the most loved cricketers in the country. After having retired from the game, Ganguly has still managed to be in touch with the sport he likes the most. He was seen as a commentator and was revered in that role as well. His most memorable stint in the commentary box was perhaps during the ICC World Cup 2015 where he came up with some brilliant witty one liners. Incidentally, it was the last tournament in which he was seen taking the commentary mic in hand.

Ganguly was then named the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and was soon seen taking more responsibility as an administrator of the game in India. Now, as per the recent reports in xtratime.in, Sourav Ganguly is all set to make a comeback in the commentary box. His return to the comm box will be during the upcoming edition of the ICC mega event – the ICC Champions Trophy. The tournament is scheduled to be played in England and Wales in June this year.

As per the reports, the company that has been handed over the rights for the world feed of the Champions Trophy 2017 has signed Sourav for the commentary work. The company is a global UK based production company named Sunset and Vine (S&V). Sunset and Vine are well aware of the popularity that Sourav Ganguly has all over the globe and hence it comes as no surprise to see him being roped in as a commentator for the big show.

Interestingly, in the previous edition of the tournament in 2013, which team India had won, had seen Sourav in the comm box too. India had beaten England in the finals of the tournament which was a rain-shortened affair.

The southpaw confirmed the news too as he quoted that he will be back to his commentary work with the tournament. He quoted, “Yes, I will be doing commentary during the Champions Trophy. Last time I did commentary was during the ICC World Cup in Australia in 2015.”
