South Africa managed to sneak past India with a narrow four-run victory in the warm-up game at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Batting in reply to South Africa’s formidable 196, India did get to a good start after they lost both their strong men Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for cheap scores. But, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina then batted fluently to take things forward for India. The pair put on 94 run stand and kept India in the chase. The pair soon retired in the 16th over to make way for the MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. Both the batsmen batted aggressively and brought more excitement in the game. The equation came down to 14 runs from the last six balls. Fans highly expected yet another MS Dhoni style grand finish at the Wankhede yesterday but, unfortunately India could manage only 10 runs off it and lost the match closely by four runs.

Earlier, Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy hammered the Indian bowlers after losing Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis early. The pair weaved a stroke full 115 runs partnership before Quinton de Kock retired on 56 from 33 balls. David Miller joined Duminy in the middle and played a brief attacking cameo of 18 runs from 11 balls. Later, Rilee Rossouw and Chris Morris also played brief attacking cameos to propel South Africa to 196/8 after 20 overs. JP Duminy batted till the end and carried his bat to the dugout with 67 from 44 balls against his name.

Brief Scores:

South Africa: 196/8 in 20 overs (JP Duminy 67; Hardik Pandya 3/36)

India: 192/5 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 73; Imran Tahir 1/25)
