Kagiso Rabada, who recorded his best bowling figures against India in Tests, and debutant Marco Jansen took four wickets each to dismiss the visitors for just 174 runs in the second innings. Lungi Ngidi, who was the star in the first inning,s also took two wickets with the crucial scalp of KL Rahul.

Nightwatchman Shardul Thakur was dismissed early in the day by Rabada as no Indian batter even crossed the 35 runs mark with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant being the highest scorer for his 34. The long wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st international ton continued yet again as he fell prey to Marco Jansen for just 18 runs.

Lungi Ngidi recorded his best match figures of 8/102 as the tourists set a target of 305 for the Proteas. Aiden Markram again got bowled by the brilliant Mohammed Shami with Keegan Petersen getting out under 20 yet again. Jasprit Bumrah took his 100th wicket in away Test with Rassie van der Dussen offering no shot. Late Bumrah strikes have turned the match in visitors’ favor as South Africa finished the day on 94/4. Skipper Dean Elgar kept fighting for his team as remained not out on 52 off 122 deliveries.

8/102 – Lungi Ngidi recorded his best figures in a Test match. His previous best (7/90) was also against India at Centurion in 2018.

2 – Rishabh Pant scored 748 runs in Tests in 2021 making him the second highest run-scorer for India after Rohit Sharma (906).

5 – Marco Jansen became the fifth Proteas bowler to record best bowling figures in a Test on debut at Centurion.

60 – Virat Kohli has now gone 60 innings without a century in international cricket.

7 – Pacer Kagiso Rabada also became the seventh South African bowler with most Test wickets (148) at home. He surpassed Vernon Philander’s tally of 146 wickets.
