After losing the first ODI by 31 runs, KL Rahul and his men will meet South Africa in the second ODI on January 21, 2022, at the same venue. The Men in Blue will be looking to bounce back straightaway in this short series where only three ODIs are scheduled. A loss here would seal the series for the hosts, which the visitors would want to avoid especially after the disappointment of the Test series loss.

Speaking of how the first ODI panned out, the tourists were blown away by centuries from captain Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, no other Indian bowler looked in rhythm as the hosts cruised away to 296/4 in 50 overs. Fifties from Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli went in vain as India’s middle-order and the skipper KL Rahul himself couldn’t contribute much.

Going into the second ODI, India will hope for runs from Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and the newbie Venkatesh Iyer as the visitors look for series parity. On the other hand, after winning the Test series and the first ODI, a confident looking South African side will look to inflict another series defeat on the sub-continent giants which will be the fifth ODI series loss for team India since 1992 in the rainbow nation.
