Pakistan team has been struggling in South Africa since the first day of the tour. While Pakistani bowlers have done well in patches, their batsmen have mostly let down. The young batting line-up clearly lacks experience so they have found it tough in adjusting to the fast and bouncy pitches in South Africa. Their batting line-up can be really frustrating as they clearly have the potential, but sometimes fail to apply themselves.

The Pakistani fans mostly get frustrated with the inability of their batsmen to apply themselves. Today, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen got frustrated when the visitors lost yet another wicket to the short ball. Kagiso Rabada bowled a fiery bouncer angling towards Imam-ul-Haq who was on the front foot. The fact that he was on the front foot showed that he was expecting a full delivery.

The Pakistan left-handed batsman was surprised by the pace on the ball, so it was too late for him to leave the ball. He was not able to fully transfer his weight on the back foot, but he still played a pull shot. The ball got big on him, and there was no way he could get over the ball to keep it down. Finally, he just miscued the shot, and it was an easy coach for Andile Phehlukwayo at the short leg. This way, Pakistan lost their first wicket for a small score yet again.

Kevin Pietersen questioned the application of Pakistan batsmen

Kevin Pietersen was not pleased with Pakistan losing yet another wicket with a short delivery. He tweeted to inform his followers that Pakistan lost yet another wicket on a short ball. He seemed surprised that Pakistan is still struggling with short balls after spending more than a month in South Africa. He further wrote that this is weak and pathetic from Pakistani batsmen.

“Pakistan’s 1st wicket falls AGAIN to a short ball… What the hell????!!!! A month in SA and they still cannot play it! Weak & pathetic!” Pietersen wrote on Twitter

Pakistan lost the Test series by 3-0 as the batsmen struggled against pace battery of South Africa. Duanne Olivier was the destroyer in chief as he took 24 wickets in the three-match series. Pakistan did better in the first ODI as they won the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series. If they want to maintain their lead in the series, they need to do better to tackle the short ball.
