The Indian Cricket Team had a poor start to their South African sojourn, failing to win the Test series and subsequently facing a lot of criticism for being poor performers overseas. However, on the back of some terrific individual performances, especially from Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and, Shikhar Dhawan, the team bounced back strongly in the six-match ODI series which they won 5-1. And now in the on-going three-match T20I series, they are leading 1-0.

In the wake of this, the hosts have been receiving inputs from various quarters on how to avoid a series loss in the T20I series. South Africa’s fast bowler Junior Dala has said that his team’s bowling in the first T20I wasn’t up to the mark and they need to be “more proactive rather than being reactive” in the second game. Earlier, India won the first T20I by 28 runs.

Need to be a little more proactive

“With any game plan, if you don’t execute well, it always looks bad. As bowlers we were honest with each other, we had a sort of game plan. It boils down to execution. Definitely, we are going to go in with another game plan (in the second game). But I think we need to be a little bit more proactive. We have a game plan but be more proactive to it as opposed to being reactive,” Dala said during the pre-match conference on Tuesday.

As for Dala, he is one of the new faces introduced by the Proteas in the limited-overs series. He made his international debut at Wanderers and had both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walking back to the dugout. The third T20I between the two teams will be played on Wednesday at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Captain Kohli will be eager to pocket another series win and add another feather to his cap.
