After defeating hosts Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the first T20I, the strong-looking Australia team will look to seal the series in the second T20I match to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on June 8 (Wednesday). Sri Lanka on the other hand will desperately want to win the match and remain alive in the series.
It must be noted that Sri Lanka had an excellent start with the bat as they went on to cross the 100-run mark after losing just two wickets by the end of the 12th over. However, some disciplined bowling from the T20 World Cup champions, ensured that the home side did not even bat their full 20 overs.
The home team had no answers to the formidable opening combination of David Warner and Aaron Finch, as the duo went on to chase the total without any fuss, and completed their respective half-centuries in the process as well. The duo of Warner and Finch did not let the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana settle into a rhythm, as they thrashed the Sri Lanka bowling attack around the park.
Pitch Conditions
As it was evident in the first match, the pitch at the Premadasa Stadium is ideal for batting. The new ball comes nicely onto the bat and the batters can play through the line once settled. However, spinners will get some turn from the wicket and they will like to use the pitch to their full advantage, in the second match.
