A lot will be at stake when India and Sri Lanka lock horns in the second T20I of the three-match series. The encounter takes place at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday (July 27). After clinching the ODI series 2-1, Shikhar Dhawan’s men continued their sensational run and walked away with a 38-run triumph in the first T20I. This means a victory in the upcoming contest would seal the series for the visitors.

Hence, the second T20I is a do-or-die contest for the Lankan Lions and they must put their best foot forward. However, their job won’t be easy as the Men in Blue have been on a roll this tour. Despite fielding a second-stringed side, Team India has dominated the hosts with the youngsters rising to the occasion. At the same time, Sri Lanka also have several positives to take out and, they must back themselves to change their fortunes.

Speaking of how the first T20I panned out, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first. The decision seemed to be spot on as Dushmantha Chameera dismissed Prithvi Shaw in the very first ball of the match. However, the other Indian batters stepped up and brought their side back in the hunt. Suryakumar Yadav was India’s stand-out performer with the bat, scoring a quick-fire fifty.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan also made notable contributions as India posted 164/5. In reply, Sri Lanka never really looked in the hunt with wickets falling at regular intervals. Charith Asalanka tried to make a fightback with a quick-fire 44 but his efforts could just narrow down the margin of defeat. As a result, the hosts got bundled out for 126 runs in 18.3 overs. While veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped four wickets, Deepak Chahar dismissed two batters.

Here’s a look at how the weather will behave during India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I

Though not much, rain has played a part in this tour. While bad weather cut shorted the third ODI to a 47-over per-side affair, it halted the opening T20I briefly. Fortunately, the weather isn’t likely to intervene during the second T20I. As per accuweather.com, the sky at Colombo would be covered with dark clouds.

However, rain isn’t likely to have any effect on the game. Notably, the overcast conditions will favour the fast bowlers and batters must be aware of the fact. The dew factor might also play a part. Hence, like the previous game, the toss-winning captain must elect to bowl.
