Preview

Sri Lanka has been particularly unlucky in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. Even though the hosts didn’t play their best cricket, they still had control over both the games that were played. On both these instances, some brilliant efforts helped them get back into the game and they had a genuine chance of getting over the line. However, a few mistakes and unfavorable luck cost them the series.

The third and last game is essentially a dead rubber. Both these teams have been bitten by a bug called injuries and there are some concerns in both the camps. While New Zealand will look to win their last game on this tour, Sri Lanka will want to have at least one win under the belt. The return of Ross Taylor will further bolster the chances for the visitors.

Weather Report

Rain is predicted during the afternoon in Pallekele. However, it should all clear up by the evening. There won’t be any hindrances going by the weather predictions and we should get a full game of cricket.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The pitch is a decent one for the batsmen. However, there is assistance on offer for the pacers with the new ball. As the ball gets older, spinners also come into play. If they pitch the ball in the right areas, bowlers will make life tough for the batsmen.

Average first innings score: 166 (Last 6 T20s at this venue)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 4, Lost – 2, Tied – 0
