Statistical Analysis: Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli's International numbers at 29

At 29, Virat Kohli already has 15,631 runs and finds the 5th spot in India’s highest run-getters list in International cricket.

It wasn’t a great birthday eve for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli as his side lost the 2nd T20I in Rajkot to New Zealand which takes the series into the decider. However, individually, Virat reached milestones and set new records like every other game. This time he redid T20I and Twenty20 records ahead of his 29th birthday.

At 29, he already has 15,631 runs and finds the 6th spot in India’s highest run-getters list in International cricket. At his age, only Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar had the most number of runs across formats with 18,938 runs. Kohli made his debut at the age of 20 while Sachin took his first steps in International cricket when he was 16.

The modern-day chase master who has already broken a number of records and is racing towards the biggest records in International cricket stands along with Sachin for most runs, most centuries, the most Man of the Matches and the most Man of the Series awards at the age of 29. While the legend takes the first spot in all above mentioned four lists, Kohli leads the former Indian batsman in most hundreds coming in the winning cause.

Similar to the International numbers, both Sachin and Kohli occupy the top two spots in runs, centuries, Man of the Match and Series awards in ODI format. The latter leads in the 100s charts while Tendulkar takes the top spot in runs and awards at 29.

While in Test cricket, there is a lot of difference between Kohli and Sachin as the current Indian skipper doesn’t make any top five lists at the age of 29. Sachin, on the other hand, has the most 100s and is 2nd in the run-getters list at the age of 29 behind Alastair Cook.
