Statistical Highlights: Pakistan v England 2nd ODI: England won the toss and decided to bat first after being 1-0 down in the 4-match ODI series. Openers added 102 runs for the opening until Jason Roy was caught by Shoaib Malik off Wahab Riaz. Alex Hales then partnered with Joe Root to bring up his maiden ODI Century. Two 50s and a 100 from Top 3 helped England post 283/6 in the allotted overs despite Pakistan’s tight bowling in the death overs.

Things didn’t start normally for Pakistan as they lost their first two wickets for 10 runs and eventually first five for a mere 50 runs. Sarfraz Ahmed and Anwar Ali together made the only 50+ stand of the innings but that wasn’t enough to chase the target. England won by 95 runs to level the series 1-1. Alex Hales was named Man of the Match for his brilliant 102.

Here are the stats highlights from today’s game:

The Debut – Iftikhar Ahmed today became the 207th player to represent Pakistan in ODIs.

300 – Number of ODI games Ranjun Madugalle has officiated as match referee, a first. Chris Broad has officiated 268 ODIs, second most.

16 – Number of Ducks for Mohammad Hafeez in 171 ODI innings. He averages a duck every 11th ODI.

Hafeez’s Rare Record – Mohammad Hafeez (171 ODIs) and Gary Kirsten (185 ODIs) are the only batsmen to bat in every game they have played, a 100% record. Desmond Haynes (237 innings batted in 238 games), Ramiz Raja (197 innings batted in 198 games), Brendon Taylor (166 innings batted in 167 games) and Tamim Iqbal (152 innings batted in 153 games) are the ones that nearly match their record. [minimum: 150 ODIs]
