AB de Villiers came into the Champions Trophy 2017 as the No.1 ranked batsman in the ODI cricket. After getting out for just 4 runs vs Sri Lanka in the first game, De Villiers got a good chance to score a big knock over Pakistan as he came to the crease in the 15th over. However, AB de Villiers cut the first ball he faced in the innings straight into the hands of the point fielder in Imad Wasim’s bowling to depart for a golden duck.

This turned out to be AB de Villiers’ first golden duck in his ODI cricket and only his 7th duck in this format. His last duck in ODIs also came in the Champions Trophy, in 2013 vs England in the semi-final.
