Not long ago, Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t find a place in the Indian ODI XI but when he got the chance in the West Indies tour, the classy batsman completely utilised the series by scoring fifty in each of the 4 games so far. Rahane began the series with a 62 in the opening contest and followed it with a century (103) in the 43-over game.

While the top order struggled in the 3rd ODI, the Mumbai batsman put up a gritty show for his 72 to help Team India reach a decent total. In the 4th ODI, India struggled to score runs in pursuit of a small target but the right-hander scored yet another fifty (60) to support the team’s cause.

With 4 fifty-plus scores in 4 innings, Rahane became only the 3rd Indian opener to score 50+ in 4 consecutive ODI innings. Sachin Tendulkar and Manoj Prabhakar are the other two who scored over fifty in 4 successive ODI innings as openers.
