The first ever day/night Test match in New Zealand turned out to be a disaster for England as they were bundled out in the first session itself. The England team bowled out for only 58 runs batting 20.4 overs after the Kiwis invited them to bat first. Trent Boult (6/32) and Tim Southee (4/25) shared all the ten wickets to wrap up the visitors. Craig Overton top-scored for his side with 33* by adding 31 runs for the final wicket after they lost nine wickets for 27.

1 – For the first time, the New Zealand bowlers were unchanged in a completed Test inning. This is the 15th occasion of a team bowling out the opposition with only two bowlers in Test cricket and the first since Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis against Sri Lanka in 1994.
This is also the 2nd time for New Zealand in an International game (Men’s / Women’s / Youth cricket) where only two bowlers were used in a completed inning. Trent Boult (7/20) and Tim Southee (3/19) bundled out Malaysia for just 47 runs in the U19 CWC 2008 match.
31 – Partnership between Craig Overton and James Anderson for the 10th wicket. England collectively made 27 runs for their first nine wickets. This is only the 5th time where the 10th wicket partnership aggregated more than the first nine wickets in Test cricket.
58 – England’s total of 58/10 is their 6th lowest in Test cricket and their lowest against New Zealand. Their previous lowest Test total against the Kiwis was 64 in the 1978 Wellington Test match.
58 – The total of 58 by England is the 2nd lowest total for any team against New Zealand in Test cricket. The Kiwis bundled out Zimbabwe for just 51 in the 2012 Napier Test match.
The 20.4 overs batted by England are also the fewest New Zealand needed to bowl them out in Test cricket. Pakistan were bowled out in 26.5 overs in the 2001 Hamilton Test.
58 – England’s total of 58 is the 2nd lowest total for any team in the first innings of a Test match after losing the toss. England were bowled out for 45 against Australia in 1987 Sydney Test in the first innings.
The 20.4 overs England batted are also the 2nd fewest a team batted in the first innings of a Test after losing the toss. Australia were bundled out in 18.5 overs for 60 runs in the 2015 Nottingham Test against England.
