Amidst the frustrating intervals due to the rain curtailed Champions Trophy fixture between Australia and New Zealand at Edgbaston, a few records were broken during the game. Luke Ronchi struck the 6th fastest fifty in CT while Josh Hazlewood picked up 6 wickets, which turned out to be only the second 6-fer in the Champions Trophy history.

Hazlewood gave the breakthrough to the Australians by dismissing Martin Guptill and later held the key role in keeping New Zealand down to a low score as he claimed the wickets of Neil Broom and Jimmy Neesham. In his final over, he took the wickets of Adam Milne, Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult in the last 4 balls to ensure New Zealand didn’t play out all of their restricted 46 overs.

The right-arm pacer recorded the 2nd best bowling figures of the tournament as he now stands only behind Farveez Maharoof who picked up 6/14 vs West Indies in 2006 at CCI, Mumbai. Overall, Hazlewood’s haul is only the 11th 5+ wicket haul in the CT and the 2nd most expensive one as well. Parnell conceded 57 runs for his 5-fer vs New Zealand in 2009.
