Stats: Instances of India Men and Women winning on same day

While the India Women celebrated their 3rd consecutive win in the Women’s World Cup with a huge win over the Pakistan team at the Derby, the Indian Men’s side faltered in a 190-run chase over the Windies by a narrow margin on Sunday.

This was the 5th instance where the India Men lost an ODI on the day the Women’s side won in the same format. The outcome on 2nd July 2017 was the 19th such instance both India’s Men and Women teams played an ODI and both the sides won on the same day only on 6 occasions while both there were three cases where both the teams lost.

Had the Men’s team won vs Windies, the Sunday’s matches could have been the first ever instance for India in ODIs where both India Men and Women would’ve won while playing outside home on the same day. The previous 6 instances of the both teams winning an ODI on the same day have been with either Men’s team playing at home or the Women’s side contesting in their backyard.

In the T20I format, both Men and Women teams have won 4 out of 8 occurrences where they have played on the same day. Interestingly, both of them were playing in the same country in 3 of the 4 occasions where they went on to win a T20I simultaneously.

In January 2016, where India Women team faced Australia Women in the afternoon, the Indian Men’s side took on the hosts at the same venue later in the day. Both the series consisted of 3 games with India men’s team winning all the three while Women’s team lost the last T20I after winning the first two.
