Kuldeep Yadav ended the 26-year drought with an ODI hat-trick as he dismissed Matthew Wade, Aston Agar, and Pat Cummins on consecutive deliveries take India towards a 2-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series. Kuldeep reproduced the feat at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata where Harbhajan Singh did it in Test cricket in 2001 against the same opponents.

Here we look at all the stats and numbers created by Kuldeep Yadav with his hat-trick.

1 – He became the first player to pick up a hat-trick in ODIs as well as in the Under-19 ODIs. Kuldeep picked up a hat-trick against Scotland in 2014 U19 World Cup in Dubai. Overall, four players managed to take a hat-trick in International Cricket at U19 level and also at senior level. Damien Fleming and Abdul Razzaq recorded hat-tricks in Test cricket and Youth Tests while Jermaine Lawson took a hat-trick in Tests and Youth ODIs.

2 – Number of hat-tricks in ODI cricket that have been registered by wrist spinners so far. Yadav’s hat-trick is only the 2nd for a wrist spinner in ODIs. The last man to take an ODI hat-trick, Sri Lanka’s Wanidu Hasaranga was the first wrist spinner to take a hat-trick in this format.

3 – He became the 3rd Indian to pick a hat-trick in ODI cricket. Chetan Sharma in 1987 and Kapil Dev in 1991 are the other two Indians to pick an ODI hat-trick.

5 – Kuldeep’s hat-trick is only the 5th by an Indian in International cricket. Three of the five have been recorded at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

5 – This hat-trick is the 5th in ODIs on Indian soil. Jerome Taylor in 2006 against Australia at the Brabourne in Mumbai and Kemar Roach against Netherlands in 2011 at Delhi picked up hat-tricks alongside the Indian names Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev.
