"Steve Smith is in outstanding form at the moment" claims Sourav Ganguly

Rising Pune SuperGiants captain Steve Smith carried on his commanding form in the shortest format of the game after a fantastic Test season with the bat. Steve Smith who played a T20 match after one year, showed no sign of struggle with the change in formats.

Pune went on to win their opening match with Mumbai with the help of a match-winning knock of 84 runs in 54 balls. With 10 runs required off the last 3 balls, Smith hit two crucial maximums under pressure to seal a win for his side. He also stitched an important partnership with a fluent Rahane to stabilize the SuperGiants’ innings. However, the highlight of the match arrived when he commented that form is transferable in spite of the format.

Sourav Ganguly, who captained the Pune Warrior XI side during the time when Steve Smith was finding his feet in international cricket, remarked that the Australian captain is in sublime form in all formats of the game. At an apparel accessory, home furnishing and decor items store launch event, Sourav went on to declare, “He is in outstanding form at the moment”

The Prince of Kolkata went ahead and augmented that irrespective of formats, the Australian has displayed his class by scoring in every opportunity he gets. Ganguly added “He is just a quality player and currently one of the world’s best batsmen. He showed his class by switching formats so swiftly in such a short time”

Steve Smith carried his purple patch with the bat in the IPL after scoring 499 runs in four test matches against India at an unbelievable average of 71.28. He scored three scintillating hundreds in Pune, Dharamsala, and Ranchi with the highest score of 178*.

Smith also scored a match winning 108* in  Pune earlier. Given his love affair with the home ground in Pune, the Rising Pune SuperGiants fans would hope that Steve Smith would continue his outstanding form and lead the side into the play-offs.
