The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side decimated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) outfit by 10 wickets to register their 4th successive win in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The RCB openers came out all guns blazing to absolutely pummel the opposition.
Next up, the Bangalore side will be up against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by the legendary MS Dhoni. The CSK side too has experienced an excellent run in this tournament, and have won 3 out of the 4 matches that they have played thus far. In this article, let us take a look at the predicted playing XI of the RCB side for the high-profile clash against the Chennai Super Kings.
Openers – Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal were the willow wielders who sent the Rajasthan Royals (RR) side on a leather hunt. While Kohli scored a classy 72* off 47 deliveries, Padikkal scored a scintillating century as the RCB side made a mockery of a challenging target of 178.
Kohli has had a decent run in the 14th edition of the IPL and has amassed 143 runs in the 4 innings that he played this year. On the other hand, Padikkal has scored 137 runs in the 3 innings that he has batted this year and is in ominous form. If Kohli and Padikkal get going at the top of the order, it will be tough for the CSK side to stop RCB from winning their 5th consecutive match in a row.
Middle Order – AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell
The two willow wielders who will form the middle order for the RCB side are AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell. And, both these men have been in excellent form in the 2021 edition of the IPL.
While Maxwell has scored 176 runs at an average of 58.67 in the tournament thus far, de Villiers has scored 125 runs at an average of 62.50. With de Villiers and Maxwell in good form, CSK will have to get their plans spot on to prevent these two men from going berserk.
All Rounders – Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Kyle Jamieson
Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, and Kyle Jamieson are the 3 all-rounders who will play for the Bangalore side against Chennai. Shahbaz Ahmed did not bat or bowl in RCB’s previous match. The left-arm spinner has scalped 3 wickets in the 14th edition of the IPL thus far.
Washington Sundar bowled 3 overs in Bangalore’s previous match, gave away 23 runs, and scalped just a solitary wicket. Kyle Jamieson bowled 4 overs in RCB’s previous rubber, scalped a wicket, and also gave away 28 runs.
Bowlers – Harshal Patel, Kane Richardson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj
Harshal Patel has been the standout performer for the RCB side with the ball this season. The right-arm pacer has already scalped 12 wickets in the tournament and is the proud owner of the Purple Cap. In RCB’s last match, even though he gave away 47 runs in his 4 overs, he also scalped 3 wickets. Kane Richardson bowled 3 overs and gave away 29 runs against Rajasthan, scalping a solitary wicket in the process.
Yuzvendra Chahal could not scalp any wicket in the previous match. And finally, Mohammed Siraj produced an excellent performance with the ball, and scalped 3 wickets, giving away only 27 runs in his 4 overs.
