The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side posted its first win of the second leg of IPL 2021 by thrashing the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 54 runs on 26th September 2021. It was a comprehensive all-round performance by Virat Kohli and his boys, as they fired with both bat and ball.

Next up, the Bangalore side will take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) side on 29th September 2021. The Sanju Samson-led outfit will enter this clash against the Bangalore outfit on the back of a loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The ‘Orange Army’ comfortably beat the Rajasthan side with 7 wickets and 9 balls to spare. On that note, let us take a look at the predicted playing XI of the Bangalore side for their clash against the Rajasthan Royals.

Openers: Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal

The two men who will open the batting for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side in their encounter against Rajasthan Royals (RR) are Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli scored a sedate 42-ball 51 for the Bangalore outfit in their clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI). The right-handed batting maestro struck 3 fours and as many sixes in his innings.

Devdutt Padikkal did not even trouble the scorers and was dismissed for a 4-ball duck. Padikkal poked at a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah that pitched on middle stump and left him, and Quinton De Kock pouched a simple catch behind the stumps.

However, Padikkal’s duck against the MI side is not a cause of concern for Bangalore, as the 21-year-old has been in good form with the willow in the 14th edition of the IPL. The left-hander has scored 287 runs at an average of 35.88 and a strike rate of 142.08 in the 2021 IPL season.

Middle Order: Srikar Bharat, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers

The middle-order will comprise of Srikar Bharat, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers. Bharat scored an attractive 24-ball 32 for the RCB side in their match against the Mumbai Indians and stitched together a vital 68-run stand with Virat Kohli.

Glenn Maxwell absolutely tore into the Mumbai bowling attack. In a 37-ball knock, the right-hander plundered 56 and played a crucial role in helping the Bangalore side post a total of 165/6 on the board. Maxwell was also impressive with the ball as well, picking up 2 wickets in his 4-over spell. AB de Villiers’s poor run in the second half of the tournament continued against the Rohit Sharma-led side.

The South African batting icon scored just 11 runs in RCB’s previous rubber and was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. In the 3 innings that he has played in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, de Villiers has recorded scores of 0, 12, and 11. Surely, the master batsman would want to reverse this trend of low scores when he takes guard against Rajasthan Royals.

All Rounders: Dan Christian and Shahbaz Ahmed

The two all-rounders who are likely to take the field for the RCB side against the Rajasthan Royals are Dan Christian and Shahbaz Ahmed. Christian experienced a poor outing in RCB’s previous rubber against Mumbai. While the 38-year-old scored 1* with the bat, he leaked 21 runs in his 2 overs with the ball.

Shahbaz Ahmed also scored just a solitary run with the willow in RCB’s encounter against the Mumbai Indians. The RCB side needs better performances from both Christian and Ahmed in their next match.

Bowlers: Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Mohammed Siraj

The RCB bowling attack will consist of 3 pacers and a spinner. While Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, and Mohammed Siraj will complete the pace bowling department, the lone specialist spinner who will play against the Rajasthan Royals is Yuzvendra Chahal.

Jamieson produced a poor performance with the ball against MI. In the 2 overs that he bowled, the right arm pacer leaked 22 runs and did not pick up even a single wicket. Mohammed Siraj was decent with the ball, giving away 15 runs in his 3 overs, and also scalped a wicket.

Harshal Patel was the man who proved to be the game-changer with the ball in RCB’s match against the Mumbai Indians. The right-arm pacer picked up 4 wickets (including a hat trick) in 3.1 overs and gave away only 17 runs, turning the match on its head.

And finally, Yuzvendra Chahal too produced a sensational performance against Mumbai as well. The right arm leg spinner picked up 3 wickets in the 4 overs that he bowled and leaked just 11 runs in the process.
