Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not taking any action against Steve Smith for his illegal actions in the Bangalore Test. The 67-year-old experienced cricketer has previously voiced his opinion against Smith’s actions stating that it killed the spirit of the game.

Both BCCI and the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has issued statements backing their leaders and the ICC has decided not to file any charges on Steve Smith and Virat Kohli. The two players also exchanged some heated throw of words at each other during the incident which could have been very well considered to be against the rule of the game.

“It can’t be that some countries get favourable treatment and some countries do not get favourable treatment,” Gavaskar told a news channel.

“Tomorrow, for example, if something similar is done by an Indian player … he also should not be pulled up at all,” said Gavaskar who is respected by the whole world of cricket.

Both the teams will again go head to head in order to bag the third Test which will be played in Ranchi from March 16th. Gavaskar also made it clear that he expected firmness from the body in control.

“I would actually love to see Virat Kohli, if he is given out … and he looks at the Indian dressing room, gets some sort of feedback from them… Let’s see what the match referee and the ICC decide then,” added Gavaskar.

The Border-Gavaskar trophy has been named after two stalwarts of the game one of them being Sunil Gavaskar himself who owns the record of being the first batsman ever to score 10.000 test runs.

The controversy erupted when Steve Smith was caught on the pads by pacer Umesh Yadav and the batsman tried to consult his bench fooling the umpires. But the umpires managed to catch him red handed and denied him from doing so. Indian skipper Virat Kohli also ensured that he saw Smith looking up to the dressing room.
