The Supreme Court’s crackdown on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has seen the tremors left behind following the earthquake. The earthquake took away the absolute top-brass of the board in the form of Anurag Thakur and his trusted lieutenant Ajay Shirke.

The Apex Court made an online amendment to the order from January 2, “Mr. Gopal Subramaniam also draws our attention to an inadvertent error in our Order, clause 25(i)(f) whereof shall now stand modified/corrected to read as under: “25(i)(f) Has been an Office Bearer of the BCCI or a State Association for a cumulative period of 9 years.”

However, the tremors left behind have seen a plethora of vice-presidents within the framework of the BCCI also go on to lose their roles with the board. All of their five vice-presidents TC Mathew, CK Khanna, Gautam Roy, ML Nehru and G Gangaraju have now become ineligible according to the recommendations made by the Lodha committee.

“To change the selection committee, there has to be an amendment to the constitution and the professionals cannot do that,” Mumbai Mirror quoted a source in the know of the developments. Joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhury and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhury have also become ineligible for their respective roles as well.

This widespread wipeout has ensured that even the jobs of the selection committee members are under massive scrutiny as well. This means that the MSK Prasad led panel is also looking over their shoulder as the Lodha committee will be looking to trim the five-membered team to three members.

However, it has been confirmed by Mumbai Mirror that the selection committee will be a five-membered team.

On January 6, the selection committee will meet in Mumbai to pick the squad for the England limited-overs series.

KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel also puts in his papers

The scalps have also seen Brijesh Patel, Ashokanand, and Dayanand Pai sent in their resignations as well. A spokesperson with the KSCA released a statement which read, “In light of the Supreme Court judgment dated January 2 and as modified by today’s order, the KSCA president Ashokanand, secretary Brijesh Patel and treasurer Dayanand Pai have demitted office with immediate effect,”
