Suresh Raina, with his unbeaten knock of 34 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore last night, became the highest run scorer in the IPL presently, thereby, receiving the Orange Cap. On being handed over the cap Raina the loving father he is dedicated the honour to his daughter Gracia who attended her first cricket match.

The skipper of Gujarat Lions has amassed 309 runs in the tenth edition of the IPL, overtaking Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir in the last match. Raina also holds the feat for the most runs in all the seasons of the IPL.

Over the years, he has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings line-up. The left-hander also holds the record for playing most number of matches in the IPL. In 155 games, he has scored 4407 runs at an average of 34.7 and a strike rate of almost 140. He has also scored 30 half-centuries along with a hundred.

The left-hander from Uttar Pradesh will forever be remembered for his knock against the Kings’ XI Punjab where he single-handedly threatened to chase down a mammoth score of 220 odd runs while chasing with his 25-ball 87, which is still ranked amongst the best knocks in the history of IPL.

Raina took to social media to dedicate the honour to his daughter. He posted a cute picture with his daughter, Gracia, on Instagram with the caption, “Much needed win for @TheGujaratLions and an orange cap! This one goes to you #Gracia ? #GameMaariChhe #IPL2017 #Graciasfirstmatch”

The southpaw scored a brilliant 68 in their opening fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders at Rajkot. The Gujarat Lions lost the fixture despite his fluent innings as his knock was eclipsed by the Chris Lynn’s swashbuckling innings which took the game away from the Gujarat Lions.

However, when the Gujarat Lions visited Kolkata a few days back, Raina led the way to score an unbeaten 84 to upset the Knight Riders in their own backyard.
