After a thumping win in the ODI series against South Africa, the action moved to the shortest format of the game. As the T20Is began, all eyes in the Indian camp was on the comeback man Suresh Raina. The veteran southpaw made his comeback to the Indian side after a gap of over a year. Raina had previously featured in the Indian colors back in February 2017 in a T20I fixture against England.
It is worth noting that Suresh Raina had hit a match winning fifty in that particular game. Despite the good show, he was surprisingly axed from the side. Later, his failure to clear the fitness tests kept him out of the national side. This was followed by some serious hard work put in by the veteran cricketer and he made it to the Indian side for the T20Is against South Africa.
In the first game, Raina showed great promise with a towering six first up. However, he failed to keep going and perished cheaply. In the second match, Raina played a decent knock of 30 to keep the things going for the Indian side. But his best came in the final match of the series. The stage was set for the decider in Cape Town. Coming in at the number three spot, Raina had a big role to play.
On the very first ball that he faced in the match, he clubbed one over the fence for a six. He finished with a quickfire 43 in the game. Later, he also chipped in with crucial overs and bagged the big wicket of David Miller. After the game, which India won, Suresh Raina took to micro blogging site Twitter to thank the team and the fans for their support throughout.
Here is what Suresh Raina tweeted after India’s T20I series win:
“Success comes with a lot of hard work & motivation! And Motivation comes from a big support system. Big thanks everyone for all the love, wishes and support,” Suresh Raina wrote in his tweet.
