The men in blue are having a great time in the neighboring nation Sri Lanka. They have won the first two Test matches comprehensively and hence have sealed the Test series. But now they are looking for a whitewash and have started the match on a positive note. But the Test series is already sealed and the focus now is on the upcoming ODI series.

Sri Lankan board is desperately trying to find the best combination for the 50-over games. They have called back veteran Thisara Perera who was playing for Gloucestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast, to provide the team with some much-needed experiences. If sources are to believed, BCCI might go in the same direction and call up Suresh Raina in the team, who has not played an ODI since October 2015.

The main story

Raina, who was once a vital cog in the well oiled blue machine, is now considered as an outcast and out of favour player. He is working hard on his fitness and batting. To stage a grand comeback, Raina trained hard in Amsterdam for two months, where he was accompanied by his wife Priyanka and daughter Garcia. He is not resting after returning from Amsterdam and has started training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Raina has uploaded a picture on Twitter, where he is seen practicing with former Indian skipper and his close friend Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The caption of the image read “A well spent day at #NCA! Always so much to learn from @msdhoni and be inspired ? #NCA #Bangalore #inspiring #motivating.”

An insider has revealed that the board has Raina in their plans for the ICC World Cup 2019. He also said that the cricketer might be given a chance now owing to the heavy schedule of India. “Raina’s an impact player, who can help us win games with his big-hitting down the order. Since we have a heavy limited overs schedule later this season, we need to play him now. He could be a key player for us in the 2019 World Cup,” said the source as quoted by The Times of India.
