The eleventh day of the Vitality T20 Blast yet again just witnessed one game that was played. It was a North group encounter between Leicestershire and Lancashire. The game was played at Grace Road in Leicester. This game ended up being quite a one-sided one with Lancashire emerging to be victorious.

By winning this game by a fair margin, Lancashire’s net run rate improved significantly. Hence, they moved up to the top of the points table in the North group. The team has won four out of the five games that they have played. Leicestershire, on the other hand, is sixth in the points table having won just two games out of five.

Leicestershire vs Lancashire – North Group

After winning the toss, Lancashire put the hosts into bat first. However, Leicestershire failed to apply themselves and put up a good score on the board. After some decent contributions from the top-3 batsmen, no one else could really find their feet. While openers Dexter and Delport scored 30 and 25 respectively, Cosgrove scored 31. None of these three men utilised the good starts they’ve got. The team lost wickets quickly after that. From being 89/2 in the 10th over, they were down to 102/6 in the 14th over. Eventually, they were bowled out for 142 runs. Liam Livingstone picked four wickets in the innings.

These kind of chases are never tough for a team batting second on a good batting surface. Livingstone, with 28 off 11 provided the team with quite an aggressive start. Alex Davies played the anchor role with 51 off 50 to ensure that his side didn’t lose its way in the chase. Arron Lilley who came in at No 3 scored 19 runs. With Keaton Jennings scoring 37 off 28 balls towards the end, Lancashire won the game comfortably with 3.2 overs and 8 wickets left.

Brief Scores:

LEIC: 142/10 in 19.4 overs (M Cosgrove 31, N Dexter 30, L Livingstone 4/17)

LANCS: 146/2 in 16.4 overs (A Davies 51*, K Jennings 37*, Ben Raine 1/23)
