Match Details:

The North Group match of the T20 Blast 2020 is all set to be played between Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning at The Aigburth Cricket Ground, Liverpool.

This match is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM Local Time (7:00 PM IST) and may be viewed on Nottinghamshire’s YouTube channel in India.

Preview:

Nottinghamshire are up against Lancashire in a North Group match at Liverpool. Both the teams have a number of former and current international players and have arguably been the most impressive up till now in the competition. Nottinghamshire has been exemplary, chasing down two mammoth targets of 182 and 191 with ease after their first game was washed out.

Lancashire won their first game comprehensively by 27 runs and after a washed-out game, they too continued their winning run scraping through a 4-run victory. It is a battle of equals and promises to be a fascinating match.

Weather Report

The English weather has been unrelenting right through the season and there is a possibility that rain may play spoilsport once again. While temperatures are expected to be between 15-17 degrees Celsius, 46% precipitation is expected at 2 pm which goes up to 86% at 5 pm. There is a high possibility of the match getting abandoned, and even it doesn’t, it will most likely be a shortened game.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Not much is known about the track at The Aigburth Cricket Ground as it is not a regular venue. In the couple of T20 matches played there over the last few years, it seems to be a decent track to bat on.

Average first innings score: 159 (Last two complete matches played at this venue)

Top Picks:

Chris Nash has been the silent destroyer for Nottinghamshire this season. While he has not been the man of the match in the two games they have won, he has scored two consecutive 50s, amassing 106 runs at a strike rate of 173.8 and an average of 53. He looks to be in fine touch and a massive score is definitely around the corner.

Alex Davies has been the highest run-getter of the Blast up till now with 147 runs in just two innings at a strike rate of 138.7. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored a fantastic 82 in the last game and looks to be in great form. Davies had scored 821 runs in the last two seasons at an average of almost 50 and this season also looks like one where he is going to score plenty of runs.

Keaton Jennings scored a fabulous 108 in the first game he played and has been hitting the ball cleanly. He has been batting confidently and has been striking the ball at an excellent strike rate of 161.2. He will look to continue in the same vein of form and put another massive score on the board.

Alex Hales might be a surprising name as a top pick having scored just 15 runs in 2 games so far. However, Hales had been in unbelievable form earlier this year and his tally for the year stands at 708 runs in 19 innings at an average of 41.6 and strike rate of 149.4.
