Yorkshire speedster Lockie Ferguson was at his lethal best during his side’s recent outing against Lancashire in the T20 Blast 2021. The Headingley track in Leeds didn’t have much assistance for bowlers as over 350 runs were scored in the game. However, Ferguson delivered a breathtaking spell and took Yorkshire to yet another triumph. While the New Zealand pacer bowled with precision throughout his spell, he took a stunning hat-trick in the final over to which became the talk of the town.

Defending 20 runs in the final over, Ferguson didn’t have the best of starts. He bowled an outrageous no-ball in his second delivery which gave Lancashire three bonus runs with the delivery not being count. Adding salt on the wounds, the free hit went for a four and pressure was piling up on the right-arm pacer. Nevertheless, he made a sensational comeback and wrapped up the game in the best way possible.

The last three balls of the game saw wickets going down as the Ferguson registered a hat-trick. His first scalp was Luke Wells. The southpaw went for another big hit but couldn’t get the required elevation and Adam Lyth took a brilliant catch near the long-off region. Luke Wood was the pacer’s second victim. This time Ferguson didn’t require a fielder as he shattered the stumps with a pinpoint yorker.

Wood’s dismissal ensured Yorkshire’s victory with Lancashire needing 10 off the final delivery. However, a hat-trick was up for grab for the Kiwi speedster and he got the milestone in style. Tom Hartley was the man on strike and he also went for a big hit to minimize the margin of defeat. However, the connection wasn’t proper and Adam Lyth was in business again. The southpaw took the catch at mid-on, helping Ferguson get the landmark.

The star pacer finished with figures of 4/24 as Yorkshire won the contest by nine runs. Harry Brook received the Player of the Match award for scoring 91 off mere 50 deliveries.  This victory also consolidated Yorkshire’s second place in the North Group team standings. Their next assignment in T20 Blast 2021 is against Nottinghamshire on July 9.
