SoBo SuperSonics beat Triumphs Knights MNE by 4 wickets to register their second win of the season in as many games. On the other hand, the Knights suffered their second consecutive defeat. Chasing a modest 144, the SuperSonics crossed the finishing line with four wickets in hand and one ball to spare.

Captain Jay Gokul Bista gave his team a quick start by slamming a quickfire 24 before becoming Royston Dias’ first of the three victims on the day. Fellow opener Hersh Tank and Parag Khanapurkar then took the score past the 50-run mark. Prasad Patil broke the stand when he dismissed Khanapurkar for 15. The SuperSonics kept losing wickets at crucial junctures but with not much on the board, they managed to avoid a defeat.

At the point when 7 runs were needed from the final over, Adeeb Usmani and Vaibhav Mali kept their nerves to take their side home. For the SuperSonics, Tank top-scored with 47 while Dias was the most impressive bowler for Knights, picking up three wickets for 26.

A modest target

That SoBo SuperSonics only had a modest total to chase down was only because of their bowlers’ effort in the game early on. Barring Karan More who scored 55, none of the other batsmen from Triumphs Knights MNE managed to provide much resistance. Deepak Shetty was the destructor-in-chief, picking up 3 wickets for just 18 runs. Asked to bat first, the Knights started slowly with both their openers – Karan Shah and Shikhar Thakur – struggling to get going.

Even before they could settle down, Dhrumil Matkar castled Thakur for a 9-ball 3. Shah was the next to go when he was stumped off the bowling of Vaibhav Mali for 16. Parikshit Valasangkar and Sumit Ghadigaonkar did not last long either as Knight found themselves four down for just 54. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and More then started the resurrection work, taking the score to the triple-digits.

However, before the duo could power their side to a good total, Shetty struck to remove Suryakumar for 20.  From thereon, the Knights kept losing wickets at regular intervals which never allowed their innings to get the impetus. But thanks to More, who stayed till the very last over, the Knights managed to put up a decent total on the board. More’s 55-run knock came off 35 balls and contained 8 fours.

Brief Scores:

SoBo SuperSonics – 144/6 (Tank 47; Dias 4/26)

Triumphs Knights MNE – 143 for 8 (More 55, Shetty 3-18)

Sobo SuperSonics won by 4 wickets.
