West Indies looked completely at bay in their Super 12 game against England. The Islanders lost by six wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Three Lions showed why they are deemed as one of the favourites to win the trophy. The victory on Saturday, October 23, also happened to be England’s first versus the West Indies in T20Is after five defeats.

Adil Rashid wreaks havoc

After being put in to bat first, West Indies found themselves in all sorts of trouble. The Caribbean team was shot out for a mere 55 in 14.2 overs. Barring Chris Gayle, who made a run-a-ball 13, none of their batters could get into double digits. Moeen Ali got rid of Lendl Simmons to strike first blood after which Kieron Pollard and Co. lost their way completely as England showed sheer dominance.

Moeen and Tymal Mills, who made his way into the Brits’ squad after four years, picked up two wickets apiece. Adil Rashid was the pick of the bowlers for England after he finished with bowling figures of 2.2-0-2-4. He got the wickets of Pollard, Andre Russell, Obed McCoy and Ravi Rampaul. Chris Woakes got the wicket of Evin Lewis, who was in good form coming into the World Cup.

England get home comfortably

The Brits didn’t make the best of starts to their run-chase as Rampaul accounted for the wicket of Jason Roy. Roy smashed a six before perishing in the fourth over. Jonny Bairstow smashed two fours before he fell prey to Akeal Hosein, who came into the squad in place of Fabian Allen. Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone also failed to make an impact. However, England were never under pressure.

Hosein also took a stupendous catch to get rid of Livingstone. The decision went upstairs and the third umpire reckoned that the fielder took the catch cleanly. Dawid Malan, who bats in the top four, didn’t come out to bat even at number six. Eoin Morgan wasn’t in the best of form in the Indian Premier League and he stayed unbeaten on seven. Jos Buttler also remained not out on 24 runs.
