T20 World Cup Schedule 2021

The 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup is just a couple of months away and fans can’t keep calm. The global event gets underway on October 17 with matches taking place in UAE and Oman. With T20 matches dominating cricket calendars since the past few years, expectations are sky-high from the competition. Moreover, several teams have their set of T20 specialists. Hence, the contest between the bat and the ball would be nothing but fascinating.

For the unversed, six editions of the T20 World Cup have been played so far. The seventh edition was initially scheduled to take place in Australia last year. However, the unfortunate COVID-19 virus forced the International Cricket Council (ICC) to suspend the tournament. All the focus was then shifted to the 2021 edition which was supposed to be hosted by India.

However, the global pandemic meant the action is shifted to the Arab nations. Meanwhile, 16 teams will fight for the illustrious title this year and they have been divided into two groups. While the top eight teams are already in the Super 12s, the remaining eight teams will fight in the Round-Robin stage with four spots in the Super 12s up for grabs.

The top four teams across both groups will qualify for the knockouts. Subsequently, two semi-finals and a final will take place. A total of 45 matches will be played in the global competition with the final clash taking place on November 14 in Dubai. Hence, fans must brace themselves to witness T20 cricket of the highest level.

Speaking of how the previous T20 World Cups panned out, India, Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka have lifted the cup once. West Indies are the only team to have two T20 World Cup titles in their cabinet. This means the title is still elusive for many sides and they would be raring to end their drought. At the same time, winners of past editions won’t mind tasting the glory again.

Although the strength of all teams might not be the same on the paper, one must not forget that momentum rides on a rollercoaster in T20 matches. Hence, all the teams must back themselves to thrive. With the tournament taking a countdown, we’ll look at the list of matches.
