Bangladesh will join Afghanistan in the final of the T20I Tri-Series as they defeated Zimbabwe for the 2nd time in the competition. Mahmudullah’s 41-ball 62 pushed Bangladesh’s total to 175/7. Liton Das (38) and Mushfiqur Rahim (32) also made valuable contributions. Zimbabwe, in reply, lost three wickets for 8 runs on the board and were eventually reduced to 66/7. Richmond Mutumbami (54) and Kyle Jarvis (27) managed to take the team’s total to 136 and reduced the losing margin to 39 runs.

Mustafizur @ 50:

33 – Mustafizur Rahman (51) became the 2nd bowler to take 50 T20I wickets for Bangladesh after Shakib Al Hasan (91). He needed 33 matches for completing 50 T20I wickets; the 4th fewest to this milestone after Ajantha Mendis (26), Imran Tahir (31) and Rashid Khan (31).

Mustafizur is also the quickest pacer to 50 T20I wickets surpassing Dale Steyn who needed 35 matches. He is also the fastest left-arm bowler to this milestone as he surpassed Mohammad Amir (41 matches).


A rare all-round effort from Jarvis:

0 – Number of players before Kyle Jarvis who took at least three wickets while opening the bowling and scored 25+ runs while batting at No.9 or lower position in a T20I match. He scored 27 while batting at No.9 and took three wickets in the Bangladesh innings.


1 – Kyle Jarvis is also the first player to score 25+ runs and take 3+ wickets in the same T20I for Zimbabwe. There are 27 instances of a Zimbabwe player taking 3+ wickets in a T20I before Jarvis on Wednesday but none of them scored even 20 runs in the same match.


Jarvis moves up in Zimbabwe’s lists:

27 – Kyle Jarvis has 27 wickets in T20I cricket; the joint 2nd most in this format for Zimbabwe. Graeme Cremer has 35 wickets while Christopher Mpofu also has 27 wickets to his name in T20Is.

He has taken three wickets in a T20I on four times; also the joint 2nd most for Zimbabwe. Cremer has five such hauls while Tinashe Panyangara also has four 3-fers.


Zimbabwe’s lower-order performances:

54 – Richmond Mutumbami became the 2nd player to score a fifty in T20Is while batting at No.7 or at a lower position. Elton Chigumbura scored an unbeaten 54 in the 2016 Harare T20I against India also while batting at No.7.


58 – The 58-run partnership between Mutumbami and Jarvis is Zimbabwe’s highest stand for the 8th or lower wicket in T20Is. Brendon Mavuta and Peter Moor added 53 also for the 8th wicket during the 2018 East London T20I against South Africa.
