Pakistan Super League is turning out to be one of the best leagues. It has given its fans some amazing matches. Right from nerve-wrecking last ball finishes to some incredible and awe-inspiring individual performances. In spite of being in the news for wrong reasons, the league has produced some outstanding cricket.

The league games are done with and the playoff spots are sealed. Peshawar Zalmi knocked Quetta Gladiators off the top of the table. Peshawar Zalmi edged out a win after Shahid Afridi’s match-winning innings. Both the teams made it to the semis but Peshawar finished top. However, they had to deal with a big blow as two of their regular players have left the squad.

Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan left their team Peshawar Zalmi as Bangladesh start their preparations for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. Pakistan journalist, Saj Sadiq confirmed it on Twitter though he did not give the reason for their departure.

He also tweeted that England player Samit Patel has joined the squad to replace the all-rounder Shakib. The tweet said “Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan have left the Peshawar Zalmi squad. Samit Patel has joined the squad #PSL2017.”

Samit Patel who is currently contracted with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club will join the Peshawar squad soon. The Leicester-born English player has featured for England as a slow left arm off-spinner with a liking to hit the ball a long way. He has played in the middle order for his county side and has played some good innings there.

He has been roped in by Zalmi to do the same. To fill the former Bangladeshi skipper Shakib’s boot will be a huge task for Samit. Shakib was very good for the PSL side and will be sorely missed by them.
