Bangladesh is scheduled to tour the West Indies for a Test, ODI and T20I series, which gets underway on the second week of July. The team will play a two-day practice match in Antigua following which they will cross swords with hosts in a couple of Tests, starting from July 4. The three-match ODI series begins from July 22 followed by the three T20Is in St Kitts and Florida respectively.

Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal, one of the team’s most experienced cricketers, highlighted the significance of churning out more rigorous preparations in order to give the Windies a run for their margin. The Windies have shown impressive form in their ongoing Test series versus Dinesh Chandimal’s Sri Lanka and are leading the three-match affair by 1-0 with a contest remaining.

“It’s important to prepare well”- Tamim

“It’s quite obvious that when the team is doing well, the players are also confident, but I felt after watching their games [the Windies Tests v Sri Lanka] that however prepared I thought I was, it’s not enough. I thought I should prepare myself more and that was the reason I am doing the extra work,” Tamim Iqbal was quoted as saying by the media.

Tamim also believes that one needs to be relentless in their approach and not drop the gun at any stage. He could score only 48 runs at an average of 16 in Bangladesh’s recent T20I series against Afghanistan. The left-handed would definitely wish to make amends and turn out to be one of their standout players in his side’s tour of the Caribbean.

“I always believe that I can’t guarantee success and scoring runs, but if I can prepare myself a 100%, the job gets easier. Even if I fail, I can tell myself that I have tried my best but it didn’t happen. It’s important to prepare well to play well,” the swashbuckling cricketer added.
