Australian veteran batter Tim Paine has been offered a coaching role for his domestic side Tasmania. It is to be noted that the former Test skipper has not represented the national side, since his sexting scandal came to light. The wicketkeeper-batter had previously helped the Tasmanian Tigers, during the ending stage of the Sheffield Shield season.

Head coach of Tigers, Jeff Vaughan has emphasized the fact, that he was looking to fill the state assistant coaching roles, and former Australian skipper Paine will be an ideal candidate for that. However, the duo has not talked about it, as yet.

“Tim has been a wonderful leader in this program and I wish him all the best wherever (his future) goes, whether it’s in the playing sphere, or outside of cricket. I think (Paine has) got coaching credentials, a coaching skill set. I haven’t spoken to him for quite some time about it,” Vaughan was quoted by Daily Mail.

“This organization has been a big supporter of Tim’s and Tim has been a big supporter of this organisation. That hasn’t wavered right through the last 12 months. We’ll be here as an organization to continue to support him but he’s got to work those things (his future) out for himself,” said Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Baker.

The 37-year-old has represented Australia in 35 Test matches, in which he has scored 1534 runs at an average of 32.66. Paine has also scored nine fifties in the longest format of the game. In white-ball format, the right-handed batter has played 35 ODIs and 12 T20Is respectively. While he has scored 890 runs in the 50-over format, Paine has managed to make 82 runs in T20Is.

The right-handed batter played his last match against India in January 2021 and scored a half-century during the first innings. Paine could only manage to score 27 runs in the second innings, as India completed a famous victory by three wickets in Brisbane.
