A highly dominant Indian side crushed Sri Lanka at their own soil to kick start Ravi Shastri’s second spell as the Indian head coach with a victory. A mammoth victory by 304 runs was how Virat Kohli’s men announced themselves at Colombo. However, the players decided to celebrate the victory in a different way altogether.

The main story:

The men in blue engaged themselves in a FIFA session following the emphatic victory. Indian batsman Rohit Sharma, who was included in the squad travelling to Sri Lanka, posted a selfie on his official Twitter account to let everyone know the way the boys had fun. He captioned the selfie saying that a victory always lifts the mood up, be it cricket or FIFA. Apart from Rohit himself, the picture had Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha and two others.

Rohit’s tweet read “‘Victory tastes as good when we play FIFA’.

Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara contributed hugely with the willow in India’s victory. First inning hundreds from both the gentlemen saw India put up a staggering total of 600 runs on the board. While Shikhar Dhawan played a stormy knock of 190 runs, Cheteshwar Pujara looked at his very best as he scored 153 runs.

Sri Lanka was no match in all three departments against the Indians as they looked like a struggling bunch. Rohit Sharma wasted no time in expressing his happiness after the win as he posted a tweet following the match. “Great start to the tour boys. Way to go #TeamIndia” wrote Rohit.

Newly appointed head coach Ravi Shastri also made his feelings public on Twitter as he lauded the heroic performance of the team. The Indians will be the clear favourites going into the second Test match. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal is set to return for Sri Lanka after recovering from a lung infection. The hosts will hope to put up a better display to conquer the rampant Indians.
