The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approved the proposed 2-T20I series with West Indies in the last part of August. The BCCI in its working committee meeting discussed the possibility of playing the games and once it fit most of the criterion they were looking at the board gave it a green signal.

Team India is already in the Caribbean playing the second Test of the four-match series under skipper Virat Kohli which is also the first assignment of incoming head coach Anil Kumble. The team has done well in the amount of cricket they have played, the batsmen and the bowlers excelled to hand the home team an innings defeat in the first game and have been in the driver’s seat in the rain-marred second Test as well.

As per the schedule released by the BCCI for the India vs West Indies T20I series – the 1st match will be played on the 27th of August and the second and last game will be played the following day. Central Broward Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale, USA will host both the matches which will start at 7:30 PM IST.

The Men in Blue made their last appearance in the limited overs series against Zimbabwe. They won the ODI series 3-0 and also picked up the T20 series trophy 2-1. The addition of the T20I series will give the players like skipper MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Jasprit Bumrah and others who just feature in the limited overs format an opportunity to keep themselves busy in what is otherwise supposed to be a Test dominant season for the Indian team.

Which Indian player features in his XI? – Graeme Swann lone spinner in Matt Prior’s all time XI

India last locked horns with West Indies in the World T20 2016 semi-final in India, which the Caribbean team won and also went on to lift the title. A neutral venue will mean no side has a real advantage but at the same time the West Indies players will not be alien to the conditions since the second leg of the Caribbean Premier League is underway in the United States.
