Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian captain for the first time in his career played a T20I series under another skipper after taking over the captaincy in 2007. He was included in the team as a pure wicketkeeper-batsman but he obviously did a lot more than that. MS Dhoni was the acting skipper for most part of the game adjusting the field, advising the bowlers and making bowling changes as well.

Ahead of the start of the last match at Bangalore the entire squad along with the members of the support staff handed over Dhoni a special gift. It was a frame with his picture on it, with images of the three major ICC trophies he won- the ICC World T20, 2007, the World Cup 2011 and the Champions Trophy 2013. Along with that, there was the Test mace which he held for 18 months during his tenure as Test captain while the team was at the pinnacle of the rankings.

There was also a message for him. “Inspirational,

Captain par-excellence

Thank You,

-Indian Cricket Team”

At the occasion Indian head coach Anil Kumble said, “On behalf of all the ten years MS had led various teams, from all the players, from all the support staff and of course this group of players who are sitting here congratulations for being an inspirational leader that you have been, for all the achievements that you have had as captain of India and many more years to come with this team, but for all the contributions you made as captain we would like to honor you with something you will cherish and probably be a nice frame in your house.”
